| Editorial Reviews:
Product Description Trumpeting his beauty, an elephant boasts golden tusks and a floral blanket. Khun Santiparp creates an exquisite figurine in Benjarong porcelain, illuminating the pristine piece with brilliant color. A traditional style of hand-painted porcelain, Benjarong takes its name from the Sanskrit words panch and rang, which means “five colors.” Santiparp shapes the piece from kaolin and fires it. He then applies a glaze of burnt lime, wood ashes, and secret natural materials and high-fires it for 12 to 13 hours. When the piece has cooled, Santiparp applies paints and gilt by hand and fires the piece a third time. Benjarong requires only a damp cloth to wipe away dust. It is not dishwasher safe. If cleaning is needed, use mild dish soap and soft sponge. Never use abrasive pads or scouring agents.
