SmartSniff is a freeware that helps detain TCP/IP packets that move through the network adapter. It permits viewing of this data as a series of dialogues between the server and the client in either ASCII format or in hex dump format. Generally ASCII format is used for HTTP, POP3, SMTP and FTP protocols that are text based. Hex dump formats are used for DNS protocols that are not text based.
SmartSniff detains TCP/IP packets with 3 techniques. It captures data with the WinPcap Capture-driver, or with Raw Sockets technique without the use of a driver. The third technique is to use the MS network monitor-driver.
The captured data is exhibited in automatic mode by default. In this mode if the software finds that the character count is less than 0X20 it will shift to hex dump form,else it will show the data in ASCII form. The URL mode will exhibit URL addresses contained in data packets captured. In the live mode the dialog list is updated during capture itself.
The software also displays process information like, process filename and ID for TCP packets. It also permits you to filter away unnecessary TCP/IP activity while the capture procedure is on. The detained data can be exported to other applications using this software.
This software works on Windows 98, Windows NT, Windows ME, Windows XP and Windows 2000 on condition that the system has a WinPcap capture-driver that is attuned to the network adapter. This driver is not mandatory in Windows XP or Windows 2000 if you use Raw Sockets capture technique.

OfficeIns can be operated without the conversion into another language even after translation procedure is over by changing the name of the language file or by changing its location to some other folder.
It is very easy to use this software. Since it is a standalone executable no special installation process or DLL files are needed to run it. You just have to operate the executable file after transferring it to the desired folder.
Unlike the previous editions of OfficeIns, the version 1.03 has a new .NET version-column. The software is supported by email assistance so as to help the user solve any bugs he faces when he uses the software.

If you’ve been regularly visiting ITGossips you would have noticed a lot of changes over the last couple of days. The reason for all these changes is, change in management of ITGossips.
There have been some technical changes in the way the site functions now and the new change has been bit of a challenge rather than being a easy transformation. The blog subdomain on ITGossips had Wordpress MU installed earlier, but the new management decided to change this as there were a lot of spammy blogs set up, which was affecting the health of the overall site.
The trasnformation from WordPress MU to WordPress Single User was not as smooth as we expected. A lot of missing links broken links, unavailable posts have been on for. The new management along with extensive help from previous owner Buchin, has been constantly working to iron out all the problems. So, please do not be surprised if you end up in a page that does not have the content you were looking for.
On traffic front, it’s a little disheartning to note that traffic has done down by around 50%. However, with all the necessary measures we are taking and working on, we expect to recover atleast 20 -30% of the traffic. The rest 20% of traffic was going to spammy blogs, well though it will be profitable to regain that traffic, from a long term view, the new management has deicded to let go of that traffic.
ITGossips will concentrate mainly on IT / Tech / Gadgets / How To’s / Tutorial related content and hence it the content to other blogs is not of an interest to the management. However, the management has decided to retain a blog or two, purely on request basis.
Over the next few days, we are still working on weeding out content that is not related to Technology related. If you happen to find any content you think is inappropriate, do leave a message. We’ll try and clear the content.

What is Windows Notification Area in Windows XP Toolbar ?
In Windows XP, the system tray is known as “Notification Area”. If your task bar is at the bottom of the screen, then the technically right bottom corner will be the ‘Notification Area’.
A lot of windows programs and processes will place it’s icon in this area as they mostly will be required immediately. Some of the most common icons found in that area are Network Connection Status indicator, anti virus software, USB drives plugged in (if any), firewall activity and more.
As more applications start adding their icons to this ‘Notification Area’, it starts to get cluttered and starts taking significant portion of your Windows task bar. When the number of icons exceed predefined number of icons, an automatic slider comes in picture which starts hiding less used icons and shows most used icons. The hidden icons can be seen by expanding the slider by clicking the arrow mark.
A better approach is to always hide some of the icons which are not used regularly as it’ll free up space, make things clear and also will present to you only the icons which are useful to you and often used by you.
The procedure to always hide the icons, in the system tray or notification area is as follows:
1> Right-click the Notification Area and select “Properties“.
2> The Taskbar Tab opens, you’ll find a checkbox labeled “Hide Inactive Icons“, checking this option will hide the inactive icons.
3> Next to this checkbox, you’ll find a button labeled ‘Customize‘, clicking on it opens ‘Customize Notification‘ box.
4> Select the item from the list in the box and in the right and select ‘Always Hide‘, ‘Always Show‘ or ‘Hide When inactive‘ option depending on your preference.
5> Click on ‘OK‘ and then ‘Apply‘.
This will give you the freedom to choose what you wish to keep in the ‘Notification Area‘ and what you want to hide permanently.

RegScanner is compatible with editions of Windows operating system ranging from Windows 98 to 7. There is a unique downloadable version for use in x64 systems. Very often you may need to find Registry values for editing them with RegEdit. In such situations the freeware of RegScanner v1.77 lets you specify search parameters; the software then recovers Registry values that equal the criteria and exhibits them in a single list.
With a double mouse click on each item on the catalog you can move straight to the correct RegEdit value. Alternatively you can create a .regfile for utilization in RegEdit and export the retrieved Registry values to it.
