Last month, i wrote a post about Apple iPhone Not (yet) Available in Indonesian Market. But the gossips updated :D .

**Update: You can get iPhone from Hong Kong. I’ve wrote a tip how to buy unlocked iPhone 3G for Indonesian!!

And now Budi Putera, the owner of Asia Blogging Network wrote in his post that his colleague in Telkomsel told him that the negotiation between iPhone and Telkomsel almost confirmed.

According to post, the iPhone will be offered to the post paid consumers. And now Telkomsel working on how the pricing scheme is.

“Telkomsel will offer iPhone 3G here. It’s almost confirmed.”

We pray for this :D . As I know, kartuHALO is the Telkomsel’s postpaid service. I wonder how they merge/split their customer which is subscribed with it’s Telkomsel Flash.

Let’s analyze it. If the iPhone really come to us, Will it be offered with discounted price?

I think it will be bundled with the HaloBebas Abonemen, since the minimum payment you’ll have to pay will of course bigger than the monthly fee

  2. July 27th, 2008 at 03:41 | #2

    I can’t wait for it. :D . I already have halo bebas abonemen :D

if i buy iphone from abroad,, will it work here??
    i want it bad..

  13. August 2nd, 2008 at 17:25 | #13

You can, only if you buy unlocked one. However, iPhone usually come with locked version, you need to unlock it / jailbreak it first. You can Jailbreak iPhone 3G with Pwnage jailbreak

    Pricing scheme :
    E90 –> Rp 8jt

Jika banyak pelanggan baru yg tertarik utk apply sbg pelanggan baru, tinggal dikalikan aja kelebihan quota, tambahan layanan data, dll yg didapat dari pelanggan baru…

    just for your Info:

    1. I have a Iphone 2.1 Firmware, jailbroken and unlocked, and it works absolutely great with Telkomsel.
    2. The Iphone 3G can not be unlocked (!!!!) eg, it will not work with a SIM card from a Indonesian provider (if somebody say’s different, it’s a fraud). You can only Jailbreack a 3G phone, to allow to install other apps, than the one from Apple store.
    3. Since the 3G speed in Indonesia is so slow, it does not matter if you use 3G or Edge (2G), since the effective speed is only 300Kbps max (!!)
    4. For business use it is just great, since the PushMail (like Blackberry) works in Indonesia (together with the service from Pt. KreatifSolusi).
So at the end you can have a Iphone 2G (with newest software)now and enjoy all the cool features.
5.I do not believe that the 3G will come to Indonesia very soon, since they have to get approval from the minister of communication and he said “Indonesia has a open telecom market, and Apple’s marketing of the Iphone bound on a cellphone contract would be illegal in Indonesia” (!!!???) (but they have it in countries like Botswana and Ghana….) (I think somebeody is not paying him enough ruppis to make this legal..)

$199 for 8 G iphone in indonesia just dreaming guys. telkomsel would not be able get the contract cause lot of people will only sign the contract and run away.i think the price will be $800 min for the 8 G (3 G phone). but i agree maybe they will have it at the apple store. becareful there is many item made china that look like exactly like iphone.

you are rught. I think the most win win solution is iPhone will come with actual price but bundled with features available which are match with indonesian market.

AT&T 3G frequency band (the official operator in USA) is different than world market, including Telkomsel.
So, even people are able to unlock the 3G phone, it won’t work in WCDMA band in Indonesia but 2G (GSM/GPRS/EDGE).
no need to waste your money for 3G iphone if it is gonna work just like 2G in Indonesia.
Just get 2G iphone, the only feature you will miss on the 2G is the GPS.

  24. November 3rd, 2008 at 08:26 | #24

wah kalo telkomnyet eh telkomsel yg megang iphone, udah pasti lebih mahal jatuhnya. Because, telkomsel is Junk! just like At&t in USA. hehehe. Hope, indonesian hacker find a way to hack iphone and make it usable for any sim card. just like on usa, teheehe. anyway, is there any mistake with my english? sorry guys.

Does anyone know which operator in Indonesia that will be able to provide the 3G setting for iphone 3G. As far as i know, there is no setting manually, it always come directly from iTunes(depending on the provider) and since iphone is not available in Indonesia. How can we use the 3G ? with which operator?

Operator mana yang bisa kita pakai untuk iphone 3G? telkomsel ato indosat? trus bagaimana settingnya? thanks
